Junior outfielder Shannon Wilkerson
was named the Peach Belt Conference’s Player-of-the-Week on
Tuesday, Feb. 17.
A junior outfielder from Dacula, Ga., Wilkerson is off to a
record-setting pace through the first 13 games of the 2009 season.
In six games last week, Wilkerson hit .714 with a 1.571 slugging
percentage, collecting three home runs and 15 RBI. He had multiple
hits in all six games, including three games with three hits
each.
Wilkerson logged three doubles and three triples on the week, as
nine of his 12 hits went for extra bases. He jacked home runs
against Paine and twice against Shippensburg, and struck out only
once in 21 at-bats. For the season, Wilkerson leads the PBC with a
1.149 slugging percentage, 21 runs scored.
