ASU Athletics Welcomes GHSU

AUGUSTA, Ga. -- Georgia Health Sciences University students, faculty and staff will be admitted free, effective immediately, to all Augusta State Athletics events with a valid ID, according to an announcement Thursday from ASU Director of Athletics Clint Bryant.

“This is the right thing to do,” Bryant said. “With the unification of the two universities, we want to invite everyone at GHSU to share in the excitement of intercollegiate athletics. We play in one of the best conferences in the nation and our student-athletes compete at the highest level.”

The move comes after an announcement by the Georgia Board of Regents that the two universities will merge in the Fall of 2013.

During the 2010-11 year, a school-record eight of ASU’s athletic programs advanced to NCAA Regional play. The Jaguar men’s golf team captured its second straight NCAA Division I National Championship, while the men’s basketball program made its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet Sixteen.
