Kara Kreutzer, Cross Country

Augusta State’s inaugural Student-Athlete of the Month is a sophomore on the ASU cross country team, Kara Kreutzer from Lilburn, Ga., and a product of Providence Christian.

One of the top Jaguar student-athletes, Kreutzer is a biology and pre-med major who was named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for each of her first two semesters in 2006-07.

Kreutzer, whose sister is a former standout member of the Clayton State cross country program, has distinguished herself in her three semesters at ASU with her academic achievements and humanitarian efforts.

Kreutzer’s involvement began in the summer of 1993 when her parents took college students to Kiev and Russia to teach English at a language institute.

“It’s definitely been an experience, but I like to get out of my comfort zone,” Kreutzer said. “I like to experience new things and meet new people.”

Kreutzer has visited Cuba, Honduras, Ecuador and Jamaica, assisting her parents with Bible study and leading youth groups in various educational programs, arts and crafts and games.

She has also worked as a lifeguard and with the Habitat for Humanity in Gwinnett County, working on various projects that included construction, roofing and landscaping.
