Bob Kellett is in his fourth
year with the Augusta State baseball program.
A veteran of college and amateur baseball for over 30 years,
Kellett was a four-year letterman and three-year starter for Furman
as a pitcher and third baseman. In 1976, he pitched the Paladins
past fourth-ranked South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, limiting
the Gamecocks to five hits in a 12-1 victory.
Kellett spent 1976-78 as an assistant coach at Furman before
entering into private business. In 2000, he formed and began
coaching the Augusta Barons Baseball Club, which has propelled
numerous players from the CSRA onto the collegiate ranks.
Currently, there are eight Jaguars who spent time as a part of the
Barons squad.
A native of Ridgewood, N.J., Kellett led Ridgewood High School to a
state championship in 1970. He guided the Greer American Legion
squad to the playoffs nine times from 1979-90. Kellett returned to
coaching in 1999, leading the Martinez-Evans Senior League to the
State Championship and formed the Barons in 2000.
