Bob Kellett is in his fourthyear with the Augusta State baseball program.
A veteran of college and amateur baseball for over 30 years,Kellett was a four-year letterman and three-year starter for Furmanas a pitcher and third baseman. In 1976, he pitched the Paladinspast fourth-ranked South Carolina in the NCAA Tournament, limitingthe Gamecocks to five hits in a 12-1 victory.
Kellett spent 1976-78 as an assistant coach at Furman beforeentering into private business. In 2000, he formed and begancoaching the Augusta Barons Baseball Club, which has propellednumerous players from the CSRA onto the collegiate ranks.Currently, there are eight Jaguars who spent time as a part of theBarons squad.
A native of Ridgewood, N.J., Kellett led Ridgewood High School to astate championship in 1970. He guided the Greer American Legionsquad to the playoffs nine times from 1979-90. Kellett returned tocoaching in 1999, leading the Martinez-Evans Senior League to theState Championship and formed the Barons in 2000.
