Ross Notches 5000m Win

HICKORY, N.C. – Augusta State's cross country runners took part in the Powersox Invitational, competing in long-distance events to open the spring season.

Dustin Ross notched a win in the men's 5000m race, posting a time of 15:24.04 to edge Steve Hammond of Wingate by five seconds. Jaiden Brandt (15:55.87, fifth) also ran well in the event.

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Adam Aldridge placed third, finishing in 10:46.85.

On the women's side, Jessica Carpenter (5:39.08, fourth) and Alicia Connolly (5:40.03, fifth) placed within a second of each other for top-five finishes in the one mile run. They also scored top-10 finishes in the 800 meter race, as Connolly's 2:31.12 edged Carpenter by nearly two seconds for seventh place.

Angela Woodward placed seventh in the 5000m run with a time of 20:22.40.

The Jaguars next race in the Weems Baskin hosted by the University of South Carolina Saturday, March 24 in Columbia, S.C.
