Lady Jags Move Up To Third
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta State Lady Jaguars improved one spot in the fifth NCAA South Atlantic Regional poll of the 2007-08 season. The rankings were released late Wednesday afternoon from the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.
The third-ranked Lady Jaguars are one of six Peach Belt Conference schools in the top 10. In fact, five of the top seven teams in the poll represent the PBC, including No. 1 Francis Marion, No. 2 Clayton State, No. 4 Columbus State, No. 7 North Georgia and No. 10 USC Aiken. The Lady Jags own a 6-3 record against the other teams in the current poll.
The top eight teams in the final South Atlantic Regional poll of the regular season will earn a trip to the NCAA Tournament.
The Lady Jags stood at 18-7 heading into a key league matchup Wednesday in Columbus, Ga., vs. Columbus State.
