Lady Jags Up To Second
AUGUSTA, Ga. - The Augusta State Lady Jaguars moved up one spot to No. 2 in the sixth and final NCAA South Atlantic Regional poll of the 2007-08 season. The rankings were released Wednesday afternoon from the NCAA headquarters in Indianapolis, Ind.
The second-ranked Lady Jaguars are one of six Peach Belt Conference schools in the top 10. Clayton State, last week’s No. 2 team in the poll, moved up to No. 1. The Lady Jags are next at No. 2, followed by Tusculum and Wingate.
Francis Marion, last week’s No. 1-ranked team, dropped to No. 5 after closing the regular season with losses in two of its last three games. Shaw, the CIAA Tournament champion, is No. 6, followed by No. 7 Johnson C. Smith, Columbus State, USC Aiken and Lander. ASU owns a 6-5 record against the other teams in the current poll.
The Lady Jags take on the No. 8 Lady Cougars on Thursday, March 6 at 3:00 p.m. in the USCA Convocation Center in Aiken, S.C.
