Lady Jags Fall On The Road, 70-48

PEMBROKE, N.C. – UNC Pembroke shot 61 percent from the field in the second half and pulled away for a 70-48 Peach Belt Conference victory over Augusta State Wednesday in the English E. Jones Center.

The win improved the Lady Braves to 10-10 overall and to 6-7 in the PBC. The 48 points matched a season low for the Lady Jaguars, who dropped to 5-15 and 3-10, respectively.

ASU junior forward Nicole Mealing booked a game-high 19 points, including four 3-pointers. Junior guard Jasmine Godwin netted 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds.

Marquena Delk led UNCP with 15 points and pulled down eight rebounds. JaToya Kemp managed 13 points and Natalie Ray added 10 points off the bench.

UNCP outscored ASU 41-26 in the second half on 60.7 percent shooting after the Lady Jags trailed just 29-22 at halftime. The Lady Braves forced 22 ASU turnovers and owned the rebounding edge 42-30.

The Lady Jags shot 33.3 percent for the game and were outpointed 30-8 in the paint. UNCP got 29 points from its bench compared to only 11 from ASU.

The contest marked the final leg of the Lady Jags' three-game road swing. ASU hosts Clayton State on Saturday, Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m., in Christenberry Fieldhouse.
