Lady Jags Open In Eighth Place
LEXINGTON, KY. --
Augusta State posted a 22-over 310 Friday afternoon in a soggy
first round of the Bettie Lou Evans Fall Invitational at the
University Club of Kentucky.
The tournament marks the season opener for the Lady Jaguars, who
are beginning their second season under head coach Kevin
McPherson.
ASU freshman Natalie Wille, playing her first collegiate round, led
the Lady Jags with a four-over 76 and is tied for 20th. Sophomore
Julie Stalbro is tied for 28th after a five-over 77 while seniors
Sarah Mooney and Tamara Luccioli signed for 78 and 79 and are 41st
and 48th, respectively. Freshman Jordyn Hage, making her collegiate
debut along with Wille, managed an 85 and is 72nd.
ASU is in eighth place, seven shots back of fifth-place
Chattanooga. Ninth-ranked Florida State combined for a 10-over 298
and grabbed a three-shot lead over Central Florida and Coastal
Carolina. Texas State is in fourth place and four shots off the
Lady Seminoles' pace.
FSU's Macarena Silva turned in the day's lone sub-par
round – a two-under 70 – and is two shots clear of a
trio that includes Chattanooga's Emma de Groot, Texas
State's Valdis Jonsdottir and Central Florida's
Victoria Tomko.
